You are automatically considered for some grants when you file your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Each has its own requirements, however, so you may receive several grants or none at all.

  • Priority goes to Pell Grant recipients

  • U.S. citizens who are Federal Pell Grant recipients
  • Enrolled full time in a two- or four-year degree-granting program
  • Have completed a rigorous secondary school program of study

  • U.S. citizens who are Federal Pell Grant recipients

  • Iowa students
  • Enrolled at eligible Regent Universities, independent colleges and universities, and community colleges
  • Based on financial need

Iowa Tuition Grant
  • Iowa students
  • Enrolled at eligible private colleges and universities or business or nursing schools

Iowa Vocational-Technical Tuition Grant
  • Iowa residents
  • Enrolled at an Iowa community college
  • Vocational-technical or career option programs
  • Based on financial need

Other grants are available if you meet certain requirements. You are not automatically considered for these when you file the FAFSA, so you will need to make an effort to search them out and apply for them.

National Guard Educational Assistance Program
  • Active members of an Iowa Army or Air National Guard Unit
