College Access Initiatives
ICAN brings national college access programs and campaigns to Iowa and develops new programs to further its college access mission.
Iowa College Access & Success Conference
At the Iowa College Access & Success Conference, college professionals and organization representatives learn ways they can encourage more disadvantaged students to attend and graduate from college. Attendees share ideas, talk about innovative programs and discover the best ways to help students reach college.
Iowa College Goal Sunday
This volunteer program helps students, especially low-income and first-generation students, gain access to college. Each year, ICAN and other sponsors help students fill out financial aid forms in locations throughout the state at no cost at Iowa College Goal Sunday SM.
KnowHow2GOIowa
ICAN partners with KnowHow2GO, a national multimedia program aimed at low-income and first-generation students. Through KnowHow2GOIowa, ICAN helps middle school and high school students who otherwise would not have the support or information they need to attend and succeed in college.
ICAN Life Store
This interactive simulation teaches students in eighth through tenth grades about budgeting based on a real-life scenario of career, education level, salary, marital status and number of children. The Life Store is conducted on a limited basis through outside grant funding.
