Easter Seals Resource for Students with Disabilities

Transitional times can be tough, especially for individuals that experience additional barriers and difficulties.

The Easter Seals Iowa Assistive Technology Center may be a resource for students that are experiencing transitions, especially for students that experience various types of disabilities. The AT Center has a Durable Medical Equipment Loan Program, a Demonstration Center, and a Lending Library. The Lending Library offers a free, 30-day trial period loan of devices that may support an individual’s independence in and out of their home, including kitchen gadgets and computer access devices.

The Lending Library contains various styles of tying aids.

The typing aid demonstrated in this photograph attaches to the user’s hand by resting around the palm. The pointer is then maneuvered by moving the arm and wrist, rather than moving the fingers.

Try is BEFORE you buy it at the Easter Seals Iowa Assistive Technology Center.

Lending Library also contains many types of navigation systems such as a Track-Ball mouse, Ergo-Touchpad, and the SmartNav Navigation System pictured here.

SmartNav allows the user to move the cursor by moving a reflective dot. This dot can be placed on the brim of a hat or on the microphone of a headset.

If you, or someone you know, may benefit from assistive technology supports, please consider contacting the Easter Seals Iowa Assistive Technology Center at 515-309-2394 (Phone), 515-289-4069 (TTY), or kkarwal@eastersealsia.org (Email). Please visit us online at www.easterseals.com/ia/at.
