The goal of the Financial Aid Program is to help high school seniors and their parent/guardian understand the process of applying for financial aid and scholarships, offer effective tools for college cost comparisons, and learn how they can access additional help. FAFSA Completion Events
Summary Description:

FAFSA Completion Events are offered in two formats to help seniors and their parents complete and file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is the required form to qualify for federal financial aid.

Time of Year: Recommended: October 1 - December 15; Additional Times: January 2 - March 1
Audience: Seniors and their parents
  • Individual appointments: 45 minutes per FAFSA - minimum 8 families
  • Lab setting (5 – 10 students): 1.5 hours per group  - minimum 8 families per session
  • Daytime
  • Evening
Requirements: ICAN is a partner with the state initiative FAFSA Ready Iowa, which provides free FAFSA Completion Events in communities across the state. Individual events are only available to schools in communities outside the 30-mile radius of each FAFSA Ready Iowa community.
