 ICAN Elects Board Members and Officers 

Doug Bannon and John Davis to join governing board 
WEST DES MOINES, IOWA (July 26, 2012) — The Iowa College Access Network (ICAN) 
recently elected two new members and officers for its governing board. ICAN, a nonprofit 
educational organization that empowers and encourages Iowans to achieve their 
educational and career goals, is governed by a board of educators, nonprofit managers, and 
business leaders from throughout Iowa. 
John Davis and Doug Bannon were elected to three-year board terms beginning September 
2012. Davis provides counseling services to Essex Community Schools and South Page 
Community Schools through his company, Educational Transitions. Davis, a former school 
counselor, has served as the president of the Iowa School Counselor Association (ISCA) 
and as president of the Iowa Association for College Admissions Counseling (IACAC). 
Doug Bannon has been employed at Kirkwood Community college for over 28 years and 
currently serves as the Dean of Admissions. He is a member of IACAC and the National 
Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and has previously served on the 
Executive Board of Directors for IACAC and the National Council on Youth Leadership. 
ICAN’s newly elected officers include Board Chair Rose Rennekamp, a retired eastern Iowa 
business executive. ICAN’s new Treasurer is DeLores Hawkins, Financial Aid Director at 
Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and Secretary is Jessica Tucker, an Page 2 of 2 
associate attorney at Phelan, Tucker, Mullen, Walker, Tucker & Gelman law firm in Iowa 
City. 
“ICAN is committed to providing exceptional quality college planning and financial aid 
application services at no cost to Iowa students and their families,” said Rose Rennekamp. 
“Iowa’s future depends the availability of a high-quality workforce. We need to help all 
students prepare for and succeed in college, and graduate with as little debt as possible.” 
ICAN, originally part of Iowa Student Loan, became an independent, nonprofit organization 
in the fall of 2009. It is supported by contributions from generous individuals, foundations, 
businesses and organizations. “ICAN provides free, accurate and timely college planning 
information to students and their families through our website (icansucceed.org), group 
meetings in nearly every Iowa county, and appointments at our West Des Moines and Cedar 
Rapids offices. We’re continually looking for new ways to partner with community members 
and organizations, so that we can remain a leading resource for college planning and
