Improve Your Grades

It would be easier to take the tough courses if grades didn't matter, but you shouldn't let a challenge discourage you. Make the most of harder classes by following these study habits.

Get organized.

Use a student planner to keep track of assignments, meetings and test dates. One way to use a planner is to plan backward. After you write down an assignment due date or test date, work backward in your planner to write down when you'll study and prepare. See a sample planner (PDF).

Create a schedule and stick to it.

Find a quiet place where you won't be distracted and make time every day for studying and homework.

Take good notes.

Be sure to write down the key points, especially if the teacher repeats them.

Talk to your teacher.

When a test is announced, ask if there is anything you should focus on or pay particular attention to. If you're struggling in class, your teacher can tell what you can do to improve your grade.
