What is Iowa College Goal Sunday?
College Goal Sunday is a program in which volunteers provide free, on-site assistance to families in filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
What is the FAFSA and what does it mean to me?

At the Event
Who should attend?
Anyone interested in going to college during the following academic year is encouraged to attend. A parent or legal guardian also should attend.
What if I am unsure of going to college?
It's OK if you do not have definite plans for continuing your education. Even if you file a FAFSA, you don't need to attend. If you do decide later to go to college, you'll have an important step completed.
What should I bring?
It's beneficial to have the correct paperwork when you come to the Iowa College Goal Sunday event. Please download a copy of our What to Bring handout for a complete checklist.
What if my parent(s) and I have not filed our taxes before the program date?
You can still attend the event even if you have not filed your taxes yet. Please download a copy of our What to Bring handout which lists the alternative paperwork needed if you have not filed your taxes yet.
What if my parents can't come?
It is recommended that both the student and a parent or legal guardian attend the event, but if they are unable to attend be sure to bring all the items listed under the parent section of our What to Bring handout.
Vice versa, if your parents can attend but you cannot, make sure they bring all the requested paperwork including student information. If necessary, the family can finish the form at a later time.
What if my family cannot attend the Iowa College Goal Sunday event?
