Career & College Planning Seminar Offered Sept. 24
Students and Parents Encouraged to Create a Plan for Life After High School
WATERLOO, IOWA (Sept. 22, 2014) — High school sophomores, juniors and their parents can learn about planning for career and college during a free seminar at Iowa College Access Network’s Student Success Center in the Waterloo. Both the program and the center are free and open to the public.
The event will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24 at the UNI Center for Urban Education, 800 Sycamore Street in downtown Waterloo. During the presentation students and parents will receive answers to questions on topics including career exploration and assessment, academic preparation, the admissions process and requirements, college selection and campus visits, the application process, understanding costs and cost of attendance, scholarships and making a successful transition to college.
“Understanding how high school academics, career interests and college selection all fit together is key to creating a successful plan for the future” explained John Holland, ICAN student success advisor. “This presentation is perfect for sophomores, juniors and parents who need help fitting all the pieces together and understanding the steps to planning for life after high school.”
