FAFSA Week of Action Aims to Increase Access to Financial Aid
HIAWATHA, IA (April 12, 2024) - The FAFSA Week of Action is here, running from April 15th to the 19th! This initiative from the White House aims to encourage all eligible students to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and unlock financial aid opportunities for college.
Completing the FAFSA is crucial for accessing grants, scholarships, and loans to help make college more affordable. Whether you're a high school senior or a returning student, don't miss out on this chance to secure financial assistance for your education. According to Federal Student Aid and NCAN's FAFSA Tracker, the state of Iowa is currently down 20% in FAFSAs completed over last year due to the initial delay in the FAFSA opening and continued delays and errors in the processing of the applications submitted. This week of action aims to provide additional resources and support for students who have not yet filed the FAFSA but intend to enroll at a college or university next Fall.
“There is still time to help students and families complete the FAFSA and access financial aid, but time is short with decision due dates looming,” said Brittania Morey, Vice President Marketing and Communications for ICAN. “Seniors should absolutely file the FAFSA and take advantage of any aid they are eligible for. ICAN is here to help any student that has yet to file and needs help getting started.
ICAN provides support and resources for FAFSA completion including free advising and FAFSA completion assistance both virtually and in-person, as well as on-demand resources to assist students in completing the form on their own. Visit www.icansucceed.org/fafsaaction to learn more.
Don't let financial barriers stand in the way of your education. Take action during FAFSA Week and pave the way for a brighter future!
