Support for College and Career Readiness Programming Grows Across Iowa

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA (March 1, 2013) — The Iowa College Access Network (ICAN) is pleased to announce the addition of new members to the organization’s Partnership Program. ICAN partners with education-minded institutions and organizations to bring comprehensive college and career readiness programming and resources to students and parents across Iowa, and to support initiatives around the state that support economic growth through increased training and education.

The ICAN Partnership Program is open to any business, organization or institution with the desire to support long-term economic growth and success for Iowa communities and citizens. Partners of the program have joined together to support ICAN’s work in career and college readiness programming which is outlined in the ICAN College Access Power Plan, a suite of programs and services designed to help families better understand college and career planning, how to successfully navigate paying for college, and choosing both a college and major that are the right fit.

ICAN’s new partners include:

About Iowa Lakes Community College

The picturesque Iowa Great Lakes Region provides the setting for Iowa Lakes Community College. The college is located in the heart of the northwest quadrant of the state of Iowa. The region includes one of only four ‘blue water’ lakes on the planet and the only blue water lake in the United States. Thousands of tourists are attracted to the area for recreational activities planned during all four seasons.

Iowa Lakes has developed a unique and respected role as a comprehensive community college. Founded in 1967, Iowa Lakes Community College has provided quality, affordable education to the residents of northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota for more than three decades. Iowa Lakes’ five campuses and interactive distance learning system facilitate educational access for rural residents. In addition to ‘traditional’ learning opportunities, diversified offerings of online courses as well as continuing education enable part-time students to upgrade skills and raise their standards of living through evening and weekend courses. The college is dedicated to serving the changing educational needs of the communities and students of the region.

Nearly 73,500 people reside in the five counties that comprise the college’s official service area.
