ICAN Welcomes New Student Success Advisor to Hiawatha Center

HIAWATHA, IOWA (September 28, 2016) — The Iowa College Access Network (ICAN) is proud to announce and welcome Susan Dickinson as a Student Success Advisor in the East Central Iowa ICAN Center in Hiawatha. Dickinson will be responsible for working with school counselors, students, and parents on college and career planning, assisting with the financial aid and scholarship process, as well as working with students on career and college selection.

She joins the ICAN team from Iowa State University where she was a graduate assistant and worked in academic coaching and admissions. Dickinson states “ICAN seemed like the perfect place to work for me because I love talking to students and families about college planning, and I have a passion for making the college search process understandable and accessible to all students. Some of my favorite moments so far have been interactions with high school juniors and seniors at presentations who are excited to get started on their college search.”

Rob Miller, ICAN President, states “We are very excited to welcome Susan to our team at ICAN. She joins at an exciting time and her experience and knowledge of higher education has already made her a key addition to the ICAN family. Our commitment to being Iowa’s go-to resource for career and college planning, and the increasing demand from our customers led us to look for an addition who fits into our mission and can help ICAN continue to grow. I’m confident that Susan will play a key role in providing and implementing high quality programs and solution for students, parents, and counselors across the state.”

Dickinson holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Communication Studies and Spanish, and a Master’s Degree from Iowa State University in Student Affairs.
